When the band was invited to play in a sporting event, the organizers asked if we have a song that would fit a sports theme. We confidently replied yes, it’s our song “Skridom bėgom”, meaning “we flew and we ran”. Of course this song has nothing to do with sports, it’s about the long journey of the band. The song was born in May 2015 while visiting our friends in Chicago. One calm evening while our friends were making dinner, Laurita and me were sitting outside under a clear sky and improvising. She was singing a folk song motif while I was playing blues. This was the beginning of the song “Skridom bėgom”, which I completed when we returned to Vilnius.
The Irish motif was created using a midi keyboard. The flute is played by a Ukrainian artist Jaryna Tovkailo. It took me almost a month to tailor the guitar part to the melody of the song I have created. This “sports” song can be found in the 2016 album “Teka”.
